About Marriage Encounter

The Weekend is designed to help married couples communicate more intimately with one another and to deepen and enrich their relationship. The Weekend is free from everyday routines, distractions and tensions. An atmosphere is created where the couple can concentrate exclusively on each other in a private, confidential environment.

Who is Marriage Encounter for?

Marriage Encounter is for any married couple who desires a richer, fuller life together. There is always room for improvement in any marriage, and even the best marriages can find new meaning and deepened joys through the Weekend experience.

What Happens at a Marriage Encounter Weekend?

A series of presentations are given by a team of three Catholic couples and a Catholic Priest. Each presentation allows you and your spouse a rare opportunity to look at yourselves as individuals, then to look at your marriage and your relationship to one another. The weekend is oriented strictly to each individual couple. You concentrate on your spouse. You share in the privacy of your own room. You will learn a communication technique which permits you to explore important areas of your relationship in a spirit of love and understanding.

Do you have to be Catholic?

No. Marriage Encounter does present God as a focus for a successful marriage. There are many faith expressions of Marriage Encounter Weekends and the weekend is Catholic in orientation. However, while the Weekend is presented in the Catholic Faith expression, it is open to couples from other faith expressions. The opportunities of the Weekend go beyond the boundaries of any one expression.

How long does the Marriage Encounter Weekend last?

The Weekend begins at 8:00pm Friday and concludes around 7:00pm Sunday.

Where does the Marriage Encounter Weekend take place?What do I need to bring?

The Weekend usually takes place at the Ramada Plaza Hotel LAX. Once you register, we will contact you with driving directions and all the other information you'll need to know before the Weekend.

What does Marriage Encounter cost?

A $50.00 non-refundable registration fee confirms your food and lodging. At the end of the weekend couples are asked to make a voluntary donation. No one is ever refused the opportunity to make weekend because of the lack of funds.
